How It Works

Museum Exchange operates somewhat like a real estate agent who helps housing sellers find buyers. Institutions which have excess exhibit inventory contact us. The seller sets the price. The seller determines when their item is available. We list their items on our site and advertise them to interested buyers while also shielding the seller from having to field the inquiries. Once we have a buyer, we contract the sale with the seller's approval. Our fee is paid by the buyer. We handle pickup and delivery to the buyer.

We use the term "seller", but some institutions simply want to avoid the cost of disposal or storage of unwanted materials. We're happy to arrange transfer to another organization for a reasonable service fee paid by the acquiring organization. In some cases, we will even pick up unwanted exhibits in advance of finding someone to acquire them.
